SA Parliament ready for 2025 State of the Nation Address

South African (SA) Parliament says it is ready to proceed with the 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA) to be delivered by President Cyril Ramaphosa this Thursday.

The annual event will once again be held at Cape Town City Hall, Western Cape province. 

In a media briefing, the presiding officers of Parliament give an update on the state of readiness and preparations for the SONA.

Speaker of the National Assembly Thoko Didiza says this year’s theme is “Harnessing Parliamentary Diplomacy for the Realisation of Global Solidarity, Equity and Sustainability”.

Didiza says no changes in the usual plan will be made.

"Participation has always been a cornerstone of our state of the national address and this tradition will continue. We also have dignitaries who will be in attendance as it is always with SONA. Our Former President of the republic, our Former Deputy President of the country, Former speakers of the national assembly, Former Chairpersons of the national council of provinces and former deputy speakers of the national assembly and Former Deputy Chaptersons of the NCOP, also the Executive Mayor of the seat of Cape Town"
