Lebombo port of entry sees surge in Mozambican travellers

Date: Jan 6, 2025

The Lebombo Port of Entry in Komatipoort, South Africa (SA), is currently experiencing a significant influx of travellers from Mozambique. The majority of these travellers are Mozambican nationals who work in SA.

In response to the increased traffic, officials from the Border Management Authority and the police are actively monitoring the border to prevent any illegal crossings.

Several Mozambican nationals attempting to cross the border without proper documentation have been arrested and subsequently sent back to Mozambique.

To ensure the smooth operation of the border and to oversee the enforcement measures, Mpumalanga province's MEC for Community Safety, Security, and Liaison, Jacky Macie, has visited the border. Macie's presence underscores the importance of maintaining order and security at this critical entry point.

The authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to manage the high volume of travellers and to uphold the integrity of the border.
