SA President appoints University Vice-Chancellor, former Politician to lead National Dialogue Eminent Persons Group

South Africa's (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Tshwane University of Technology Vice Chancellor, Professor Tinyiko Maluleke, and former Politician Roelf Meyer as co-Chairs of the upcoming National Dialogue.

The two are part of a 31-member Eminent Persons Group tasked with guiding and championing the initiative.

Ramaphosa has also named former Member of Parliament Lindiwe Mazibuko and Scientist-Entrepreneur Siyabulela Xuza as Deputy Chairs. Nompendulo Mkhatshwa, a former student Activist who currently works in the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, has been appointed as the secretary.

The Presidency says the chairpersons, deputy chairs, and secretary will lead and coordinate the group’s work.  Ramaphosa has expressed gratitude for their commitment to ensuring the effective functioning of the dialogue process.
