The activists aim to highlight what they say are atrocities taking place in the enclave. A group of South African (SA) activists is part of the global protest.

Haseena Kathrada is part of the group that is now in Egypt says the journey has been emotional.

“I go to bed every night crying, because children are going to sleep every night hungry and the thousands and thousands of people that have lost their loved ones, have lost their homes and the current thousands being starved. So yes, I think it's an individual cause, a humanitarian cause, and that's what we're all here for.
