Mbalula says that the festive season should be used as a time of reflection towards a better future.
He says, “Let’s use this opportunity to rest, reconnect and renew our commitment to building a better future for all. On behalf of the ANC, I wish you peace, joy and prosperity for the year ahead. Let us step up to 2025 with hope in our hearts and determination in our action. Happy holidays, stay safe and remember to look out for one another and more importantly don’t drink and drive.”
The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has urged South Africans to prioritise their and fellow citizens’ safety and security.
The UDMs Secretary-General Zandile Phiri has expressed concern about the high number of road fatalities since the festive season began as well as gender- based violence (GBV) incidence posted on social media.
Phiri says, “In this season of goodwill, the UDM calls on all South Africans to exercise extreme caution on the road and to take collective action to end GBV. It is crucial that we look out for one another and work together to create a more just society for all.”
GNU
Freedom Front Plus (FF+) leader Pieter Groenewald says that the government of national unity (GNU) presents hope for South Africa’s future.
Groenewald says, “We as partners in the government of national unity must work together to ensure that South Africa becomes a better place, that we can get the economy to grow so that we can create jobs so that we can become a winning economy in the end. Therefore I also want to wish you and your loved ones a happy and prosperous 2025.”
ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has called on South Africans to reflect on the challenges facing the country and what they can do to improve the lot of fellow citizens.
Mashaba says, “Many have lost their loved ones and livelihoods due to circumstances that they had no control over. Those of us who are still here from wealthy to not so wealthy have a responsibility to remain steadfast in our faith and to better the lives of others who are who are less fortunate than we are.”
He says, “ It is time when we must give true meaning to the concept of ubuntu, I am because of you and to recognise that our individual humanity is tied to the humanity of fellow human beings.”
