Amongst this hot topic, was gender equality, income equality and the impact of digitalisation on the future of work.

According to economist and lecturer, Professor Ronny Ncwadi, youth unemployment in South Africa (SA) is amongst the highest globally.

He says that the only way to combat this is to invest in infrastructure.

“We need to build new infrastructure and I am not talking about replacement infrastructure I am talking about new infrastructure. Look, in SA how many new airports since 94, how many new railways?  I am talking real hard investment.

Where can we create jobs right? So if we fail to build economic infrastructure like new Industrial Development Zones and take advantage of the oceans economy, all of those untapped sectors we need to go in and make sure we create those jobs.”
