The adverse weather conditions have also disrupted services in and around the area, causing significant challenges for local residents and authorities.

Lephalale Mayor, Aaron Mokgehle, confirmed that the border post has suspended its services in response to the flooding. Additionally, the local Witpoort Hospital has had to evacuate patients to other hospitals due to the imminent threat of flooding.

The situation has been further complicated by the inability of officials to report for duty at the hospital and other government buildings, as many bridges have been flooded and swept away in most areas.

Mokgehle highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that several roads are currently impassable.

"The border is closed as we speak now, the Groblersbrug border post, and we are anticipating more rains. We just want to advise our people not to play in the water so our people can remain safe. Also, we spoke to Exxaro and Eskom so they can come and play a role and assist. It is very premature now to speak about the assessment report," Mokgehle stated.

The flooding has caused widespread disruption, and authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and avoid flooded areas. The collaboration with Exxaro and Eskom is expected to provide much-needed support in managing the crisis and mitigating further damage.
