This, after the Speaker of the National Assembly, Thoko Didiza instructed portfolio committees on Police and Justice and Constitutional Development, as well as the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence to consider, on an urgent basis, revelations by the Kwazulu-Natal Provincial Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, of political interference in police at the highest level.
Last week, the committees decided that it would recommend to the National Assembly that an ad hoc committee is the best vehicle to look into these matters. They must report back to the National Assembly on Wednesday.
