SA police urge killer of MP to hand himself over to authorities

Date: Jun 3, 2025

Police in South Africa (SA) say they expect to make an arrest soon in the murder case of Member of Parliament and Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) Deputy Parliamentary Leader, Khethamabala Sithole

National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, says he is satisfied with the amount of evidence the investigating team has gathered thus far, and they're close to making a breakthrough.

Sithole was killed by unknown assailants on Saturday night in the town of Katlehong, east of the city Johannesburg, in the Gauteng province. National Spokesperson for the Police Brigadier, Athlenda Mathe speaks on behalf of Masemola.

“We know who we're looking for, it's just a matter of time before we effect an arrest. Our intelligence operatives and seasoned detectives are on the ground actively searching for this suspect. We also urge this suspect to hand himself over to his nearest police station, Masemola said.
