SA's ANC, Freedom Front Plus discuss strengthening multiparty consensus as GNU falters

Date: Apr 14, 2025

South Africa's (SA) African National Congress (ANC) has announced the successful conclusion of a cordial meeting with the Freedom Front Plus.

The meeting marked a significant step in fostering multiparty consensus and enhancing democratic accountability within the Government of National Unity (GNU).

In a statement, the ANC highlighted the alignment between the two parties on the importance of the recently adopted Fiscal Framework. This framework is seen as a cornerstone for stabilising public finances, ensuring the continuity of essential public services, and driving sustainable economic growth.

Both parties underscored the necessity of vigilant parliamentary oversight, efficient allocation of resources, and decisive measures to combat financial mismanagement. The ANC reiterated its belief that GNU partners must operate with mutual respect, a shared sense of purpose, and disciplined cooperation to serve the national interest.

This meeting reflects the ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration among political entities in SA, as the country navigates complex economic and governance challenges.
