SA’s first Black Psychologist passes away

South Africa's first black psychologist and an academic Professor Noel Chabani Manganyi has passed away at the age of 84.

Manganyi produced several important works on psychology, art and literature. 

Among the books he has worked on, was "Political Violence and the Struggle South Africa" that had insight into the black experience, including Exiles and homecomings. 

Manganyi was appointed the first director-general in the Department of Education at the Nelon Mandela University, after the 1994 democratic elections. 

He was later awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Literature by Wits in April 2008.
