Women’s Rights group raises concerns over SA alleged sex pest judge case

Date: Jul 13, 2025

The Masimanyane Women’s Rights International has expressed concern about the developments in the Judicial Tribunal hearing of the South African (SA) Judge President, Selby Mbenenge

The organisation says it is unhappy with the lack of accountability for the harm that has been done, not just to the complainant but to women across SA.

The Eastern Cape Province’s top judge is facing a misconduct investigation by the Judicial Conduct Tribunal, which could lead to his impeachment over alleged sexual harassment of Judges’ secretary Andiswa Mengo.

The Sirector of Masimanyane, Dr Lesely Ann Foster, says the way the tribunal is handling the issue shows disregard for women.
