UNICEF SA advocates for child-centric development in 2024 manifesto

Date: Apr 26, 2024

As South Africa (SA) commemorates three decades of democracy, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) SA has issued a powerful call to action with the release of its 'Manifesto for Every Child in SA 2024'.

The manifesto emphasises the urgent need to place children at the heart of the nation's developmental agenda.

UNICEF insists that safeguarding the well-being of every child, especially those with disabilities and migrant children, is crucial for the country's progress.

The timing of the manifesto is significant, coinciding with the upcoming elections.

It serves as a reminder to citizens and leaders alike that the choices made at the polls have direct implications for the youth.

"The manifesto is our rallying cry during election season, urging both voters and candidates to prioritise our children. They are the cornerstone of SA's future," stated Christine Muhigana, UNICEF's country representative.

UNICEF, along with its partners, hopes to see a commitment from the country's leadership to protect and promote the rights and futures of all SA children.
