The department together the SABC management and the board are briefing the Standing Committee on Public Accounts on the audit outcomes and the financial performance of the public broadcaster for the 2023 and 2024 financial year.

Gungubele however acknowledged that there's still a long way to go to return the SABC to a better financial position.

"From out of disclaimer to unqualified. From out of going concern without changing in terms of the funding. I am sure Chairperson you had not heard a lot about the SABC since this board took over.

They have actual demonstrated their awareness about the importance of the capacity of the institution, thus their intervention spends a lot trying to sort out the capacity and so on. Of course, it’s a board that can only optimise the resources at their disposal but of course they will not be able to close the gap of the resources of which they do not have. But they have demonstrated that have done that and the strategy."
