The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has extended the inquest that was scheduled to run until the May 16. The inquest is looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of former African national Congress President-General, Chief Luthuli. He died in 1967, after a train hit him in Groutville. Provincial NPA Spokesperson, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara says evidence leaders have informed them that the inquest has been extended until the middle of next month.
“So we are looking to likely proceed until about mid to later part of June, the reason for this is at the state will be presenting more evidence that's far you've seen with various pieces of evidence and testimony from whole host of people from the colleagues, family, friends, forensic experts and crime scene experts,” Ramkisson-Kara said.
