The two are meeting for discussions aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The meeting comes at a crucial time, with SA currently holding the presidency of the G20. Lamola is expected to highlight the benefits of SA’s leadership role and engage with France on key global geopolitical issues.
In addition to international matters, the two ministers will explore outstanding defence agreements, cultural cooperation, and trade and industry initiatives. Officials anticipate that the talks will reinforce economic and political partnerships that have evolved since the normalisation of diplomatic relations between SA and France following the country’s democratic transition in 1994.
“This engagement underscores the strong stance between our two nations, which have historically worked together across economic and political spheres,” SA’s Ambassador to Nathi Mthethwa said.
