Polling stations opened from 7 am and will close at 9pm inside the country as well as at Namibian diplomatic missions abroad.
Namibians have been walking in and out of the Namibian High Commissioner in Pretoria, South Africa since 7 am this morning with the hope of nominating their own presidential candidate. They are joining other Namibians in other parts of the world in the special vote process that has been set aside for the citizens who will not get the opportunity to vote in Namibia on the 27th later this month. The day further caters for seagoing personnel and members of the security cluster such as the Namibian Police Force (Nampol), Namibia Correctional Services and the Namibian Defence Force (NDF), who will be on duty on the day.
More than 2 159 eligible voters are expected to cast their votes at different Namibian embassies worldwide, while 8 000 voters from the security cluster and fishing institutions will vote locally.
