Reports from state media indicate that Mzembi was taken into custody on Friday. He made a brief court appearance before the matter was postponed to today.

Before his arrest, Mzembi is said to have held a private meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mzembi fled Zimbabwe in 2017 following the ousting of long-time leader Robert Mugabe, and has been living in exile since.
