In his first remarks since the inauguration, Nguema outlined plans to diversify Gabon’s oil-dependent economy, placing emphasis on agriculture, industry, and tourism. He also reiterated a firm stance against corruption, which has long plagued the nation’s public institutions.
Nguema came to power in 2023 after toppling the Bongo family, who had held power for more than 50 years. His victory at the polls marked a significant shift in Gabon’s political landscape and was seen by many as a move towards civilian-led governance.
The newly unveiled cabinet is expected to reflect the President’s priorities and offer insight into how he intends to manage the country’s transition after decades of dynastic rule.
