Developed nations have offered developing countries 250 billion US dollars, or 4.5 trillion rand per annum. George says the money is not enough.
“The number that we put on the table was 1.3 trillion US dollars, and we believe that is the number that is achievable on an annual basis. But it looks like we’re going to have to look at the long time frame. We are not satisfied with the number, and we are not satisfied with the period.”
“What we are talking about at the moment is 250 billion to be achieved within the next 5 to 10 years. We think it should be 5 and that from various sources and 1.3 trillion work towards that with the next 10 years,” George explains.
