The group, made up of prominent members of the Afrikaans leadership network, travelled to Washington for a series of engagements with White House officials and other key stakeholders, focusing on bilateral relations.
The visit, held under the theme “An Afrikaner Perspective on US–SA Relations”, aimed to clarify the group’s position on domestic matters and to build dialogue on the current state of ties between Pretoria and Washington.
Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) leader Dr Corné Mulder, Dr Theo de Jager of the Southern African Agri Initiative, and Gerhard Papenfus of the National Employers' Association of South Africa led the delegation. They are expected to address the media at O.R. Tambo International Airport following their arrival.
Speaking ahead of the briefing, Mulder said the delegation hoped the visit would contribute to a constructive reset in the diplomatic relationship between SA and the US.
“We will at the press conference give feedback with regard to the contents of some of our meetings as well as the way forward. We believe that we are in a position now where SA can do the necessary so that we can reset the international relations between the US and SA in the best interest of all South Africans,” he said.
