Nujoma, who died at age 95 yesterday, is the founding father of Namibia.
He led the South-Western nation to independence in 1990.
Mbeki says during Nujoma tenure, South Africans and Namibians were fighting the common enemy which was Apartheid.
In an exclusive interview with SABC, he describes Nujoma as a selfless leader who was fighting for the liberation of the masses.
“1977, 1978 I was African National Congress representative in Nigeria and when we got there, we found a SWAPO representative already there and what we did was to merge the two offices. So it was one organisation. Both of us published journals with one editor. I led the group publicly, we speak as two different organisations but functioned as one. And even President Nujoma came to visit Nigeria we reported that we are functioning as one office.”
