The group was expected to hold a Nakba Day rally, as the world marks the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, which means "catastrophe" in Arabic.
It is the name Palestinians gave to the permanent displacement of over 700 000 Palestinians from their homes and villages in 1948, during fighting that led to the creation of the state of Israel.
The campaign's Co-ordinator, Usuf Chikte says the rally is part of a global call to stand in solidarity with Palestinians. He says the group will continue calls in demand for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an end to all arms sales to Israel.
“The Palestinian Solidarity Campaign calls on all South Africans to join us at the Nakba Day Rally. Palestinians are being starved and bombed to death. Show your solidarity, attend the rally and join the programme of action to end the genocide,” Chikte said.
