Roodt says so far business relations has been established to create opportunities.

SA assumed the G20 Presidency from December 1, 2024 through to November 2025.

The main aim of the G20 conferences is to foster international cooperation and coordination among major global economies to address pressing global challenges and promote a more stable and prosperous global economy.

Roodt also mentioned the United States (US) failure to attend the G20 Development Working Group 2025 meeting.

He says the unfortunate part was by US Minister of Foreign Affairs not attending the meeting, as the US will take over after 2025 G20 conference.

However the economist stated that the lack of attendance by US doesn’t necessarily mean it will have a huge impact on business relationship or international affairs.

He says most of the countries are on board and that shows great commitment.

The economist says he hope that the President of the US will attend the actual G20 conference in November and solve the unstable relationship between SA and US.
