Earlier this week, Ramaphosa was unable to attend Chief Justice Raymond Zondo's farewell gala dinner due to the infection. Mashatile will oversee the signing of the second Presidential Health Compact at the Union Buildings in Pretoria this afternoon.

The health compact, which was established in 2019, is a framework between critical sectors that include government, business, academia and civil society. The Presidential Health Compact has a monitoring and evaluation component, where roles and responsibilities are assigned to a range of stakeholders to support health systems in preparation of the National Health Insurance.

It consists of ten pillars that include the development of human resources, improving access to medicine, vaccines and heath products and the upgrading of infrastructure amongst others.
