The decision came after President George Weah issued a directive to the Liberian ministry, urging them to align with his position of peace and compassion for the civilians caught in the conflict.
President Weah had also written a letter to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last month, calling for restraint and consideration for the human rights of the Palestinians. Liberia was the only African country among the 10 nations that opposed the ceasefire proposal on December 12.
