SPCA South Africa launches ADOPTIM campaign to promote pet adoption

Date: Dec 25, 2024

The National Council of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in South Africa (SA) has launched a new campaign, ADOPTIM, aimed at encouraging the public to choose adoption over shopping for pets.

The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the emotional benefits of having a pet and the importance of giving animals a second chance at a loving home.

According to the SPCA, thousands of animals across SA find themselves in animal welfare organisations each year, waiting for a second chance. The ADOPTIM campaign highlights the significant impact that adopting a pet can have on both the animal and the adopter.

"By choosing to adopt, you are giving these animals a chance while also playing a key role in addressing the issue of homeless animals. When you adopt an animal, you are not only welcoming a new member to your home, but you are also making a compassionate decision that can enrich your life in many ways. It is important to note that adding a pet is not a solution to personal challenges, but it fosters a mutual bond, building trust and care," said Samanta Stelli, Spokesperson for the National Council of SPCAs.
