The meeting forms part of the Peace, Security and Co-operation Framework concerning the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The meeting is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Kampala, Uganda, and will focus on peace and stability in the DRC, Sudan, and South Sudan.
The Peace and Security Co-operation Framework is a regional effort aimed at addressing the underlying causes of conflict and instability in eastern DRC and the wider Great Lakes area. It involves commitments from the DRC, neighbouring countries, as well as regional and international partners.
This year’s meeting comes at a critical time, as the eastern DRC faces worsening political, humanitarian, and security challenges. The situation has been further complicated by the renewed activities and territorial advances of armed groups, including the M23 and the DRC River Alliance. In addition, the summit will consider the ongoing conflict in Sudan and the concerning political developments in South Sudan.
