Botswana election results are expected to be announced tomorrow. The country went to polls yesterday, in a vote President Mokgweetsi Masisi seeks to win. He's up against three other candidates.
Speaking on the latest developments, Channel Africa correspondent in Botswana Shingarai Madondo confirms that indeed election results are expected to be announced tomorrow. He says the counting started as early as 23h00 pm (CAT) yesterday and midnight as well as the wee hours of today. The voting process ended around 22h00pm (CAT) yesterday.
“Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) addressed the media early this morning and said the verification of the ballot papers as well as the counting process has just started with results for the local government trickling. IEC’s Secretary Jeff Siamisang,told the media that at least 70 local authority results have been verified,’ said Madondo.
