The peace agreement is aimed at resolving the conflict in the Eastern part of the DRC.
In May the former South African President Thabo Mbeki warned that the agreement between Kinshasa and Kigali will not solve the problems in the Eastern DRC.
“The notion that the government of the DRC can negotiate and the government of Rwanda must meet and sign the peace agreement is fine. Thinking that signing is going to solve the problems in eastern DRC is wrong.
This has been tried before. Whatever the Americans will do to encourage Kinshasa and Kigali to get together and sign an agreement it does not solve the problems of DRC, adds Mbeki
