His comments come after the country's citizens voted for a new constitution with over 90% voting yes in a referendum held over the weekend.
The new constitution will impose a seven-year term, renewable only once, instead of the current charter allowing for five-year renewable terms without limit. It also says that family members cannot succeed as presidents and that the position of prime minister should be abolished.
The referendum comes a year after the soldiers overthrew the country's longtime President, Ali Bongo Ondimba. Aigbe elaborates.
"The election that became disputed with the military also agreed to say no, this election was a fraud, we can't go ahead with this. That coup was supported. And now the military head of state is coming up with a proposal which I think we very unique and very important. And that is something remarkable in the new constitution and it was also very good, of course my friends in Gabon would tell me that the most important for them in the constitution was that a family member cannot take over if the owner of the office dies."
