SA former Minister welcomes arrest warrant for Netanyahu, others

South Africa’ former International Relations and Co-operation Minister Naledi Pandor has welcomed the ICC’s decision to issue warrants of arrest for Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Warrants of arrest was also issued to his  former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant as well as Hamas leader Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri.

Pandor was delivering the annual public lecture hosted by SAfm at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg on Gauteng’s East Rand.

She reflected on the country’s 30 years of democracy and the important role the international community played during apartheid.

“Today as the world confronts a very toxic geopolitical context and a decline in international progressive morality. We as South Africans cannot ignore our obligation to assist all those who suffer harm and oppression such as the people of Palestine and we are so happy warrant of arrest has been approved by ICC.”
