He held court with the media answering questions and signing Executive Orders on live television.
Trump confirmed that he was issuing pardons for nearly all January 6 defenders while commuting the sentences of six supporters convicted in the attack on the US Congress after Trump’s false claims of a rigged election.
The pardons could see those incarcerated released imminently, some who were serving hefty sentences for violent attacks on law enforcement protecting the Capitol precinct that day.
This came after Former President Joe Biden issued pre-emptive pardons for members of his family and members of the January 6 committee among others.
The White House is also expected to inform the United Nations of its decision to withdraw from the global climate pact.
