The department is engaging its counterparts from G20 member states in Sun City in the North West Province, to map a way forward on mutual recognition of qualifications and skills.
The Director for Policies and Lifelong Learning Systems at United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organi, Dr Borhene Chakroun, raised the importance of quality assurance of qualifications.
"We would like to see more countries rectifying their global convention on the recognition of Higher Education qualification and SA has already rectified the global convention.
Also and we still like to see more countries rectifying that convention, of course the challenge is about quality assurance and ensuring that all countries have established it and valid quality assurance systems."
Meanwhile, some tertiary students say this will open more opportunities for them.
"We have to balance these things of qualifications whether you are from which country how developed it is. Everyone must be given equal opportunity."
We are going through rigorous training the same as other students in other schools. We are attending classes, we are going through modules that are also recognised in SA, they should be recognised the same way as other countries."
