The statement comes after the use of the term “Government of National Unity” (GNU).

This forms part of the MK Party’s bid to appeal their case against the public broadcaster that was dismissed in January this year by the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.

The MK Party disputes the court’s finding that Section 16 of the SA constitution is not relevant to the case and that as such, the court had no jurisdiction to pronounce on it.

However, Judge Denise Fisher says that the essentially, the party is asking the court to mediate on the issue which the MK Party deems controversial which she believes is not the court’s role.

"The SABC must give accurate, neutral, and pluralistic information. If it’s bizarre, then it’s the Parliament that’s bizarre. You can’t use a name because it’s controversial. That would would be bizarre," says Fisher.
