WHO releases $2 million to support Uganda's ebola outbreak response

Date: Feb 13, 2025

World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the release of an additional $2 million to support Uganda’s efforts in combating the ongoing Ebola outbreak.

The outbreak has claimed one life and infected at least eight others.

This financial assistance is part of WHO’s commitment to strengthening Uganda's response, which includes enhancing surveillance, laboratory testing, and infection control measures. The funding will also help bolster efforts to track and quarantine contacts, as well as provide medical and logistical support to affected areas.

The outbreak has raised global concern, but the WHO's swift intervention underscores the importance of international collaboration in preventing the virus's further spread.
