He has also emphasised the importance of strengthening existing relationships with global science experts to advance engineering science in SA.
Nzimande is leading the SA delegation at the Second Ministerial Belt and Road Science and Technology Conference in Chengdu, China.
"Well, the meeting with the Chinese Academy, well, their Chinese Association of Science and Technology was about strengthening relations that have already been established. For instance, with our Council for Natural and Scientific Professions, which includes our engineers and so on. They already have joint programmes to develop and strengthen engineering science in SA. Because engineering, by the way, is not only important in its application, it’s also important in new ideas and innovation," said Nzimande.
