As the largest annual event showcasing agricultural and trade exhibitions in the Southern hemisphere, NAMPO has attracted over 900 exhibitors from across the country, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Argentina and United States (US), among countries.
The expo comes just days after a group of self-proclaimed refugees fled the country to the US, citing an alleged genocide against the country’s white farmers. Among the thousands of visitors to the expo was SA President, Cyril Ramaphosa, who attended day one of the event.
Ramaphosa and his administration have been at pains to refute the claims by the group. He referred to the group as cowards and highlighted his administration’s commitment to efforts towards patriotism and growing the agricultural sector and the economy.
During his engagement with some of the farmers, Ramaphosa heard that while that group did not intend to leave the country, the issues of poor service delivery and failing infrastructure, remain of serious concern to them.
