Operation Dudula, amongst other civic organisations have mobilised themselves to prevent foreign nationals from accessing health facilities around the country, saying they are straining the country's resources.
Chairperson of the African Diaspora Network, Dr Vusumuzi Sibanda says this is against the country's constitution, “Anybody that prevents a person from accessing healthcare which will bring them life is actually denying the other person the right to life and is actually dehumanising that other person who has a right to human dignity.”
“So those are violations that are against the Constitution and the constitutional right and as a result, that is why we are saying that Operation Dudula, whatever it is that they are doing is against the constitution and the spirit of humanity/Ubuntu or humanness as defined in the SA Constitution and other international documents.
So we really condemn it and call upon the authorities to take action against it”.
