Mulder said that its success hinges on members resolving differences within the coalition rather than seeking external support.
This comes after the African National Congress (ANC) reportedly approached parties outside the GNU to garner backing for a proposed 0.5% Value Added Tax (VAT) hike. The move followed opposition from some GNU partners to the fiscal policy framework.
Speaking after a meeting with the ANC on Sunday, Mulder highlighted the need for recommitment among GNU members to ensure the coalition's effectiveness.
"The important thing is that all the parties that are members of the GNU should recommit themselves in terms of focusing and making the GNU a success. That means that your first impression should be amongst us. You can't just go outside the GNU and try to get support from other parties outside the GNU," he said.
Mulder expressed optimism, noting that there was a shared understanding between the FF Plus and the ANC on the need to prioritise the GNU's internal dynamics and work collaboratively to achieve its goals.
