The country’s highest court recently ruled that President Daniel Chapo won the elections, with Mondlane coming in second place. Protests erupted across Mozambique following the announcement.
In an exclusive interview with SABC News, Mondlane shared his perspective on the way forward:
“We have a choice here, to stand with the people or to side with benefits and salaries. The PODEMOS leader chose the side of salary and benefits, while we continue to stand with the people. I’ve consistently stated, even in my live broadcasts, that we are open to dialogue. However, the government has remained silent, and the situation in Mozambique is worsening. All political, economic, and social indicators are declining.”
