SA radio veteran broadcaster funeral under way

Date: Aug 17, 2024

The funeral service of the South Affrica’s radio veteran and Crown Gospel Music Awards founder, Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule is held at the Durban International Conference Centre today.

Mbokazi-Nkambule died at a Durban hospital earlier this week, after a battle with lung cancer.

She was also the host of the popular gospel show, Eshilo, in one of Africa’s largest radiostations,  Ukhozi FM.

Mbokazi-Nkambule has been described as a visionary and multi-talented person who was willing to develop young people and upcoming gospel artists.

On Monday, the KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli expressed shock and sadness over the death of the founder of the Crown Gospel Awards.

Mbokazi-Nkambule was 52. Ntuli says the deceased spread a message of hope and resilience when she was a presenter on Ukhozi FM.

Ntuli says her passion for radio and commitment to providing quality content made her an irreplaceable part of our community, and her absence will be deeply felt.
