The Portfolio Committee on Health and Wellness in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature has reaffirmed its commitment to holding health authorities accountable for the effective implementation of TB control measures.
These measures, according to the committee, encompass early diagnosis, treatment compliance, and public awareness campaigns.
The significance of World TB Day lies in its focus on eradicating tuberculosis, recognised as the world's deadliest infectious disease. In its statement, the committee highlighted the role of collective efforts in combating TB and improving public health outcomes.
Ezra Letsoalo, Spokesperson for the committee, urged Gauteng residents to prioritise their health by seeking timely medical attention and adhering to prescribed TB treatment plans.
"The committee urges Gauteng residents to take responsibility for their health by seeking medical attention at the first sign of symptoms and completing their prescribed TB treatment. Ending TB requires a collective effort from all sectors, including communities, to eliminate the disease and improve public health outcomes," Letsoalo said.
