SA Minister engages Zambian President amid burial dispute over late Edgar Lungu

Date: Jun 23, 2025

South Africa's (SA) International Relations and Co-operation Minister, Ronald Lamola, says a state burial in Zambia represents the most fitting tribute to honour former President Edgar Lungu's legacy and service to the Zambian nation.

Lamola met with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema in Lusaka.

The family of the late former Zambian President wants the sixth Zambian leader to be buried in SA. Lamola has travelled to Lusaka as the presidential special envoy amid a growing feud between Lungu's family and the current Zambian government.
