She was speaking at the AU’s Leadership Debate in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Mahamoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti, Raila Odinga of Kenya, and Richard Randriamandrato of Madagascar are vying for the post.
SineGiorgis says the AU has a rightful place on the global stage.
“It has become a partner that can’t be easily pushed aside. We are claiming our place where decisions are made regarding our continent. Africa is coming out of edge. The three candidates to the post of the chairman, chairpersonship of the AU Commission, are going to participate in a debate. This is a serious homework we have to take into consideration.”
