SA Deputy President advocates for 'Deliverology' in keynote address

Date: Jul 27, 2024

South Africa's (SA) Deputy President Paul Mashatile, in a keynote address at a conference co-hosted by the University of Johannesburg and the National School of Government, reflected on the nation's progress 30 years into its democracy.

Emphasising the need for strategic implementation of government policies, Mashatile introduced the concept of "deliverology" as a means to enhance accountability and results-driven governance.

Lamenting the historical challenges of policy execution, the Deputy President highlighted the government's commitment to improving the lives of South Africans through rigorous monitoring and transformation efforts, including the Operation Vulindlela initiative.

Mashatile underscored the importance of clear targets and performance metrics, advocating for a methodology that consistently questions the impact of government actions on its citizens and the measures of success.

This approach, according to Mashatile, is essential for the executive branch to ensure that deliverables are not only set but achieved, marking a new chapter in SA's pursuit of effective and accountable governance.
