The organisation staged a powerful demonstration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, where it handed over a petition bearing more than 150 000 signatures.
This action comes amid a surge in GBV and femicide cases, which have sparked nationwide protests demanding justice for women and children.
Women for Change has criticised the government’s slow response to the crisis, which has contributed to SA recording some of its highest femicide rates to date.
Speaking at the demonstration, Spokesperson Bulelwa Adonis expressed frustration at the lack of progress. “We haven’t seen a significant change. Our stats are still rising. We’re still the rape capital of the world. Women are still dying every day. Our stats speak for themselves. Not enough is being done,” she said.
