AbaThembu Chieftainess Mtirara of the Mqhekezweni Great Place in Mthatha was shot dead in her royal home at Mqhekezweni Great Place, Bhityi administrative area,  last night.

Community member, Bontle Nosizwe says she received a report from the great place here at about 2H00 CAT and was told that Nogcinile Mtirara the Chiefness has been shot dead.  

“When I came here early this morning, I was told that two people arrived and entered the house through the front door.  She heard that there were people here inside and she came out of her room; and they just shot her immediately when they saw her. They were looking for her son, who was still in the house at the time," Nosizwe explained.

Six Grade 12 learners were also raped in the same area.
