The meeting comes after four priority areas were adopted in March. These include the use of artificial intelligence to promote start-ups, as well as resilience and sustainable development in the sector.
Speaking at the opening of the working group meeting, SA’s Tourism Minister, Patricia De Lille said these priority areas are in line with the African Union's developmental targets, adding that delegates will also have the opportunity to visit Africa's Travel Indaba, the largest trade expo on the continent, in the coming week
“The Africa Travel Indaba is the pride of African tourism. It’s a pan-African event. At least 27 African countries will be present here as from tomorrow, and ministers. And in this year’s trade event, that we call Indaba in South Africa, we will welcome over 1 300 exhibitors and over 1 200 buyers from 55 countries across the world,” De Lille said.
