The staffer worked at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital, east of the city of Johannesburg. According to the Department, he was shot and killed while on his way to work, just a few meters from the hospital entrance. Police have not yet confirmed the incident to SABC News. Gauteng Health Spokesperson, Motalatala Bodiba says members of the department are still shaken.

"This incident has shocked a lot of colleagues and has left everyone wondering as to what really happened. The police are investigating the matter in terms of who is behind the attack and what is the motive. Gauteng Health and Wellness Executive, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko expressed her condolences following this incident to the family,” Bodiba said.
